The new feature-packed Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra is now available to Vodafone Fiji customers.

2022’s biggest news in handheld tech thus far has undoubtedly been the launch of the feature-packed Galaxy S22 Ultra. 

Samsung’s flagship handset is now available to purchase in Fiji, and Vodafone Fiji customers can take advantage of a value-packed launch offer for a limited time. The device is on sale for $3,299 and buyers receive a free Samsung Wireless Charger Duo 15W plus Smart Tag. 

The new handset is a beast of a smartphone, packing an impressive suite of upgrades and features. It is clearly designed for heavy users and professionals seeking a top tier device.

The S22 Ultra is an amalgamation of Samsung’s previous two flagship phones. It’s most ‘notable’ feature (get it?) is the all new S Pen addition with internal storage à la previous Galaxy Note iterations.

The ultra responsive S Pen is intuitive to use, incredibly useful for creative endeavors as well as everyday tasks like signing digital documents.

Other immediately obvious upgrades include the colour-popping 6.8-inch Dynamic AMOLED (3088 X 1440) display. With updated hardware running the Android 12 operating system, the S 22 Ultra has a lightning fast 1-120Hz refresh rate.

The most significant upgrades to this handset, however, can be seen in its camera fit out and updated photography modes. More on that shortly.

Measuring 77.9 x 163.3 x 8.9mm and weighing in at 229 grams, the S 22 Ultra is by no means a small handset. However it feels comfortable in the hand and the sleek design plus new glass and haze finish ensure it’s a beauty to behold.

This phone ain’t just a looker, though. It’s built tough. The body is protected by an armor aluminium frame and Gorilla Glass Victus+ backing, which surprisingly don’t add too much to overall weight.

The 6.8-inch AMOLED display is a winner. It’s got a peak brightness of 1,750 nits, which is brighter than anything else on the market. 

One of the most useful upgrades is the addition of the new Vision Booster feature, which automatically adjusts screen brightness as you move throughout different environments during the day.

The Ultra is available in a choice of four colours: Phantom Black, Phantom White, Green and Burgundy.

The S22 Ultra is one of the first phones powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor. It’s equipped with a new 4nm chip, which is supposed to be the most advanced AI and ML processing chip. 

It has an IP68 water resistance rating and runs the Android 12 operating system, has 12GB RAM and 1TB, 512GB, 256GB and 128GB storage variants are available.

The 5000mAh battery should last most users more than a full day. A full charge should power around ten hours of heavy web use.

New 45W maximum rate wired charging promises to deliver a full charge in less than an hour. 15W wireless charging and Wireless PowerShare are also available.

The S22 Ultra is absolutely a top contender as the best camera phone on the market. It’s equipped with a larger 2.4um pixel sensor (the largest Samsung has made) plus Super Clear Glass lens which facilitates crystal clear nighttime videography.

It’s fitted with 108MP wide angle primary rear camera, as well as a 40MP front camera plus 12MP ultra wide lens and dual 10MP telephoto cameras. Combined these provide 10x optical zoom and 100x space zoom.

Samsung has redoubled their efforts at improving the computational photography capabilities of the camera system, and it shows. Enhanced AI high-resolution processing and 4x faster multi-frame processing allows you take better photos as fast as possible.

The new Portrait Mode delivers excellent image quality, and the Advanced Nightography features deliver crisp, clear video without flares from the front and back cameras.

Advanced users will be pleased to note that Samsung has brought back the Expert RAW app for in-camera editing. This allows adjustment of ISO, shutter speed, white balance and more.
