Vodafone Fiji is excited to announce the implementation of the ‘I Recycle’ program at its head office in Tamavua, in partnership with Waste Recyclers Fiji Limited and Pacific Recycling Foundation. This dedicated initiative aims to advocate sustainable waste management across Vodafone’s head office highlighting Vodafone's commitment to environmental stewardship and community well-being. This initiative will expand its reach to every Vodafone location in Fiji.

The ‘I Recycle’ program aims to change the mindset and behaviour of the staff of Vodafone Fiji on best recycling practices, and fostering environmental stewardship. The program will ensure Vodafone Fiji actively participates in sustainable waste management, facilitating the proper collection and disposal of recyclables.

In line with Vodafone Fiji’s core value of “Our Vanua,” the program is an effort to implement sustainable and effective recycling practices to cultivate a culture of sustainability among Fijians. Dedicated to minimizing its environmental impact, this initiative focuses on recycling waste generated within office operations. It aligns with Vodafone Fiji’s Sustainability Goals, promoting sustainability among employees. Additionally, this initiative supports Vodafone’s purpose to ‘Connect for a better future,’ with a particular emphasis on ‘The Vanua’, ensuring a sustainable tomorrow

“The ‘I Recycle’ program has been brought to life in partnership with Waste Recyclers Fiji Limited and Pacific Recycling Foundation, that specialise in the collection, processing, and shipment of a wide range of recyclables to overseas partners for recycling purposes, with a track record of proven success in the Fijian market,” said Rajnesh Prasad, Acting Chief Executive Officer.

“To ensure the success of this initiative, Waste Recyclers Fiji Limited and Pacific Recycling Foundation will provide a comprehensive training on proper waste management and recycling to a group of employees known as Vodafone’s ‘Eco-Warriors’. These Eco-Warriors are employees across various departments at Vodafone Fiji and will champion the initiative by learning how to monitor and manage waste separation,” added Rajnesh Prasad, Acting Chief Executive Officer.

Whilst acknowledging the award-winning and leading Telecommunication service provider, the Founder of Pacific Recycling Foundation, Amitesh Deo said this initiative paves the way for broader corporate participation in sustainable waste management, showcasing how collective action can drive impactful change for our communities and environment. “We commend Vodafone Fiji for taking this vital step towards embedding sustainability into their operations through the ‘I Recycle’ program. By partnering with PRF and WRFL, Vodafone Fiji is not only reducing its environmental footprint but also setting a powerful example for businesses. Their commitment to recycling and waste management demonstrates true leadership in creating a sustainable future for our nation,” said Deo

In essence, the ‘I Recycle’ program is a fundamental tool in terms of visible and practical participation in recycling. The I Recycle program represents a unique concept that challenges the traditional views of recycling and aims to bring recycling to the forefront of all operations

The implementation of the program is a strategic approach aimed at various layers of data collection, advocacy, and project sustainability. These strategic initiatives aim to provide national and regional blueprints for waste management while also supporting individuals participating in this space.
