VODAFONE FIJI ADDRESSES INTERMITTENT ETRANSPORT TOP-UP POS OUTAGE

Vodafone Fiji confirms an unplanned intermittent outage on the eTransport Bus Card top-up POS infrastructure late yesterday afternoon. This disruption affected several customers and Vodafone sincerely regrets the inconvenience caused.

The issue was isolated to the network connectivity affecting the POS terminals used by top-up agents to top up bus cards. We are pleased to confirm that the issue was fixed later in the evening yesterday and all services are fully restored and operating normally.

To further mitigate this issue, immediate actions have been taken to address the online connectivity issue on the agent network by allowing for offline top-up services from the EFTPOS terminals. This allows top-ups to be processed without online connectivity. We are currently rolling out a nationwide communication and training program for our top-up agents to ensure they are fully equipped to use this new offline capability when needed.

Vodafone is fully committed to ensuring the reliability of its services and maximum service uptime, especially for the essential public transportation. Services. To prevent such occurrences in the future, Vodafone is implementing several critical infrastructure upgrades and redundancies across its POS systems. These measures are designed to bolster uptime, reliability and provide a continuous seamless service.

Vodafone also understand the importance of providing customers with multiple convenient top-up and fare payment options going forward to enhance their travel experience. In addition to the M-PAiSA card top-up option and as part of our ongoing eTransport enhancements, Vodafone is actively working on introducing QR Pay as a payment option on buses in the next few months. This will allow customers to travel without the need of an E-Transport card or to top-up a card.

Furthermore, as part of the new enhancements, Vodafone has recently introduced the E-Transport Mobile App which allows customers to top up their E-Transport cards via an NFC enabled smartphone and also redeem balance on their cards digitally. We urge the travelling public to upgrade to the new eTransport cards to start using the enhanced features of the app for their convenience.

Vodafone sincerely apologizes for the inconvenience caused and thank our valued customers for their patience and understanding as we work towards delivering a stronger, reliable, and convenient eTransport system. We encourage our customers to stay tuned for more exciting updates.
