Vodafone Fiji Limited has notched a four year deal the Fiji National Rugby League stretching their commitment with the sport for a record 15 years. The renewed $4 million sponsorship deal means Vodafone will sponsor four rugby league teams and competition – Primary Schools, Secondary Schools, National Club Championship and the National team.

Vodafone Head of eCommerce and Corporate Affairs, Shailendra Prasad said, “Vodafone has much pleasure in making this joint announcement. We share the excitement and anticipation of what the sport has to offer moving forward. FNRL have some big plans on the game this year already and I understand we will be playing the Kiwis and Tonga.”

Rugby League has grown leaps and bounds since Vodafone first signed on as official sponsors in 2006 just before the Bati flew out to the then-World Cup qualifiers.
Vodafone’s logo will be emblazoned across the front of the jersey in all the sponsored competition.

Prasad added, “Today, some 12 years on Vodafone still honors the bond with the sport and today we are to recommit to the sponsorship that has produced some of the world’s best players. We have displayed some of the biggest upsets at the world stage proving that we can compete with Tier 1 Nations.”

The Vodafone Fiji Bati has qualified and consistently performed at three consecutive Rugby League World Cups reaching the semi-finals in 2008, 2013 and 2017. Who can forget the 4-2 victory over New Zealand in November which knocked the Kiwis out of the tournament! The performance speaks volumes in the growth of the game as New Zealand had won the World Cup in 2008 and were Runner Up in 2013.

“The future is indeed exciting and we are ready as we wish Fiji National Rugby League and players all the best in the above fixtures and hope to see some scintillating footy just as we saw at the World Cup,” Prasad added.
